30 Days of Creativity- Day 5

June 5, 2011 § Leave a comment

A draft of a new poem. Not sure where this poem wants to go yet. Constructive critique welcome.

Honey from Stones

In memories of an alternate
reality I wear aprons and bake
in a kitchen- checkered

linoleum, lightly faded curtains
cheap counters,
mustard colored oven

and even a pie, probably
cherry, cooling on the windowsill
beside a bee carcass.

The refrigerator hums
in conversation with other
appliances. A secondhand

table hosts a girl
with sandy curls illustrating
a story she wrote

about a pigeon who thinks
he’s a bee and makes honey
from the stone of statues.
