The New Locker Room Talk

May 30, 2010 § Leave a comment

We convince psychiatrists to prescribe
drugs for the intangible maladies
living inside our chests.

We take them for the side
effects mostly weight
loss, loss
of short-term memory,
numbness

We drink against
the warnings compare
doses over cocktails.

We buy the generics
brag with brand names
and swallow the pain

we’re failing to treat.
